3 things to note(dont miss out on any):

1. This is about the Banner competition(: For all those who have artistic talents, this is the time for you!(:

Details are as follows:

Banner Design Competition - VOG (short form for "Victorian Olympic Games"(: )

What? To paint a banner of at least 1m X 2m dimensions
Paint what? Any depiction of Olympic values - graphic design, abstract design etc.
Who to participate? ALL JC1 and IP1 classes to submit at least one entry. Classes will represent their respective Houses.
Deadline? All banners to be displayed by 6 march (Friday)
Judging criteria? 1. Artistic Element(40%) 2. Olympic values(30%) 3. size of banner(30%)

THE OLYMPIC MOTTO

Citius, Altius, Fortius

The Latin words when translated into English means "Faster, Higher, Stronger" - used to encourage athletes to do their best in competitions.

The words above are the exact words on the paper i have about the banner competition. Everyone, please take the initiative to think about a banner design and don't think that your design will not be approved by the class and hence you wont think of the design, because it's the effort that counts, and is appreciated(: anyone can come up with a design, and we'll look through it as a class and suggest some improvements to be made(if any).
On your design, do include details like colour and length of design. (dont need to be to scale, but roughly lah)

Because we have to submit our banner on 6 march(Fri), the timeline for preparations is as follows:
monday(2 march)- decide on design (during the long break before 3rd period PE)and materials needed(if time permits, we can start buying the materials too)
tuesday(3rd march)-buying of materials
wednesday(4th march)-painting of banner
thursday(5th march)-painting of banner
friday(6 march)- hang banner

As you all can see, nothing can start without the design, so i strongly encourage everyone to rise up to the occasion and come up with a design(:! I'll be designing one too:D
Oh, for easy collection, please design on A4 paper. Thanks!

2. House Representative

We need one house representative for our class so that the URSA house comm can liase with him/her to relay messages. If you are not a rep of any subject, I would strongly encourage you to volunteer for house rep., because this is really a good opportunity for you to serve the class and show the true Victorian spirit! People who are interested(whether or not you are already a subj rep), please notify me through email. Thanks!

3. Scholar
Good news everyone! Bing Yu, a China scholar, will be joining our class as of 2nd March! She will be with us for a few weeks, to experience Singapore life((: This is going to be exciting! And lets grab this opportunity to exhibit our Class Spirit, and also to grow closer as a 09S42 yeah!

Okay, last point- those without a mortal, please sms me or smth(: Guowei, from 08s42, said they cant wait to write to us(: After collecting everyone's letters, i'll do an exchange with Siew Lin from 08s42..so dont make your friends wait for you to finish writing your letter!:D P.S. If anyone is not interested, at least let me know and we'll see what we can do about it.

Okay thats all for announcements. I'll post this on the blog as well(Choon Hian created a class blog! Hurray!), but because the banner thing is very urgent, I've decided to email to everyone first(:
